E3R Warriors racing in Dragon Boat to raise money for Children’s Hospice
E3R Warriors are back in business, doing what they do best – competing whilst raising funds for their charity partner Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
In over a month on Saturday 11th September, the E3R Warriors will be competing in a Dragon Boat Race at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield, racing against 15 other teams in three 250m races in dragon-decorated boats, cheered on by spectators! The fastest crews go through to the semis and finals, with medals for the top three.
Twelve E3R Warriors will be racing, this includes the drummer Kingsley Walker who will ensure the paddlers keep the rhythm, which includes; Andrew Pilling, James Soden, Andrew Joseph, Laura Rogers, Martin Spencer, Charlotte Smith, Rodger Morley, Jennie Butler, Dom Trowman, Luke Norton and Nikki Outram.
The team has a sponsorship target of £1000 to raise for charity partner Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families through their Hospices; Russell House in Huddersfield and Grace’s Place in Bury, and also at home with their outstanding nursing care, days out, listening, respite care, therapy and even assist with domestic chores.
E3R Director James Soden commented: “We’re really looking forward to the Dragon Boat Race, as well as being really good competitive fun and good for team building, it’s a great way to raise money for a brilliant cause.
“In previous years we’ve done runs and obstacle courses to help raise funds, but with the pandemic, these activities have been put on hold, so instead we helped them with their online charity evenings helping to raise thousands of pounds. But we can’t wait to get active again and participate in this fun team activity, which will be a great day for all those involved.”
