E3R Warriors raise £1100 racing in Dragon Boat Race!

E3R Warriors have smashed their sponsorship target of £1000 and raised over £1100 for its charity partner Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice by competing in a Dragon Boat Race, racing against 14 other teams in three boat races.

The Dragon Boat Race, which took place on Saturday 11th September at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield, proved to be a great day with 12 E3R Warriors competing and soaking up the great atmosphere on the shore between races.

The twelve E3R Warriors which took part in the races included drummer Stephanie Plazzi who ensured the paddlers kept the rhythm, and paddlers; Andrew Pilling, James Soden, Andrew Joseph, Laura Rogers, Martin Spencer, Kingsley Walker, Rodger Morley, Jennie Butler, Dom Trowman, Luke Norton and Nikki Outram.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has been a partner of E3R since 2019 which supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families through their Hospices; Russell House in Huddersfield and Grace’s Place in Bury, and also at home with their outstanding nursing care, days out, listening, respite care, therapy and even assist with domestic chores.

The team’s aim was to raise £1000 for the charity, which is the cost of funding an overnight stay at Russell House. This target has been reached with further donations promised from generous family, friends and suppliers. E3R Director Andrew Pilling commented: “The Dragon Boat Race was a brilliant day for all those involved. As well as being really good competitive fun and good for team building, it’s a great way to raise money for a brilliant cause.

“After a year of not being able to participate in team fundraising events, it was great for the E3R Warriors to be back in business, doing what they do best – competing whilst raising money for our charity partner Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported us so far.”
