Automotive & Fleet Recruitment team welcomes new Recruitment Consultant, Andrew McCarthy

At the start of 2023, we welcomed our latest starter Andrew McCarthy to our Automotive & Fleet Recruitment team. Having worked previously in an engine technician role, Andrew brings transferable skills and knowledge into his role as a Recruitment Consultant.

Working alongside  Rodger Morley, Thomas Chant and Joseph Reid, Andrew has spent his first month receiving in-house training, as he starts to fill vacancies in the Automotive & Fleet sector.

As always, we enjoy getting to know our new starters and catching up with them to see how their first month has been. Read below to find out more about Andrew and his role within E3 Recruitment.

Can you give us some background on your career and what led to you joining E3 Recruitment?

I started my career in engineering after joining the Royal Air force at the age of 18. I left after 6 years to pursue a career at Cummins Turbo Technologies, I worked there for 17 years as a leading engine technician, before briefly working for Medexs as a service manager. We designed and manufactured canopies to install in operating theatres all over the UK.

Although this is my first experience in the recruitment industry, I believe I have a lot of transferable skills and technical insight to assist me in matching the right candidate to the role.

Tell us about your role and responsibilities in the Automotive and Fleet team

I’m a 360 recruitment consultant focusing on mechanical and electrical skills within the automotive sector

How has your first month been at E3 Recruitment?

Currently just starting my second week. Everyone has been so fantastic in helping me settle in! The atmosphere is super friendly here in the office. The in-house training helped me feel at ease with some of the systems we use, and the extra guidance really helped.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I live in Lindley with my partner Emma and our two Children Reuben 8 and Harlow 6. My hobbies are golf, cycling and Jiu Jitsu. I also enjoy wild camping and going to the gym.

What aspects of your role are you most excited about and what are you looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better, and building future relationships with both candidates and clients. I’m already thinking about what direction this role is going to take me. I enjoy a challenge, and I’m certainly someone who will give it 100%

What initially attracted you to a career in Recruitment?

I liked the idea of building my own desk and managing my time effectively. It’s a great feeling when you help someone find a new job, knowing that you’ve played a part in guiding them through to the interview stage, and then receiving a call to say they got the job!

What would you say to anyone looking to start their career in recruitment and why?

There is so much potential for career growth, every day you will learn something new, as not one day is the same as before.
