Goods Inwards Inspector role working for a well-established Engineering Consultancy in the Dewsbury area of West Yorkshire. Offering an hourly rate of £13.30 (£26,972 Annually) + Benefits!

As a Goods Inwards Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring that all incoming materials and components meet required specifications, quality standards and certification requirements before entering production.

The Role of Goods Inwards Inspector

As the Goods Inwards Inspector, you will be working closely with the Stores team and wider engineering departments, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying goods delivered to site, ensuring full traceability and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect all incoming goods for quality, quantity, and specification compliance
  • Check and verify certifications and documentation (e.g. material certificates, conformity documents)
  • Inspect fittings, pipework, sheet metal, and other engineering materials
  • Ensure materials meet industry and project-specific standards
  • Accurately record inspection results and maintain documentation for traceability
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding discrepancies or non-conforming items
  • Support the Stores team with stock control and goods handling processes
  • Work closely with engineering and quality teams to maintain high standards across projects

Criteria of the Goods Inwards Inspector

  • Experience in goods inwards inspection, quality inspection, or a similar engineering/stores environment
  • Knowledge of fittings, pipework, sheet metal, and associated components
  • Familiarity with certification checking and quality documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Proactive and quality-focused approach
