E3R promotes working inclusively to manufacturers

On Friday E3R hosted the Yorkshire launch of Made Equal at their head office in Huddersfield to encourage inclusivity and diversity in manufacturing. The event was well attended by manufacturers and fellow Made in Yorkshire members who were all keen to share their best practice.

Chrissie Gale, Head of People and Development showed ways to quickly identify gender bias of job adverts and tools to assist companies to recruit inclusively. Chrissie also shared particular elements of the inclusive E3R Talent Plan including Disability Confident Scheme, Flexible Working and how this can help you get ahead of the competition.

The fantastic mental health support programmes that E3R offer all temporary and permanent workers were shared freely with the audience, alongside how this can be accessed free of charge. How to positively impact employee motivation and performance through encouraging ‘discretionary behaviour’ together with inclusive high-performance work systems, and performance reviews with self-score. Finally, an extremely simple but effective engagement survey template was given to each attendee to assess and review how valued and supported employees feel.

Chrissie Gale commented on the event: “Working inclusively is not complicated; embedding inclusivity into the workplace can be straightforward and reflect some quick wins – even the small changes can make all the difference. Inclusivity is not something that we at E3R add to our strategy as an afterthought – it is embedded throughout our strategy and our values – empowering our people to contribute towards our high-performance work culture. We continue to build on ways to share best practice around inclusivity within manufacturing and engineering – being inclusive is the duty of every employer.”
