We are recruiting for a Workshop Operative to join a well-established, Bradford-based engineering manufacturer. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, ongoing training, and genuine progression as the company continues to expand following significant recent investment.

The role would suit someone with a trades or practical background, particularly those with experience in painting and decorating, finishing, construction or similar hands-on environments.

What’s on offer for the Workshop Operative?

  • Starting pay rate of £13.32 per hour (£27,009 per annum), rising to £13.80 per hour (£27,986 per annum) following successful completion of probation
  • Overtime paid at time and a half through the week
  • 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays and your birthday off

  • Working hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm with early finishes on Fridays

Responsibilities of the Workshop Operative

  • Applying fibreglass coating to modular buildings using rollers and other hand tools
  • Preparing surfaces and ensuring coatings are applied evenly and to a high standard
  • Working from drawings and specifications where required
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out finishing and general workshop duties as required
  • Supporting the wider production team to meet delivery deadlines
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company health & safety procedures

Requirements of the Workshop Operative

  • Previous experience in a practical, hands-on or trades environment
  • Background in painting and decorating, construction, joinery, finishing or a similar trade would be beneficial
  • Comfortable using hand tools and working with your hands
  • Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
  • Reliable and able to work effectively within a team
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work in a manufacturing environment
