Sam Travis

I specialise in recruitment within the building products sector, focusing on key engineering and production roles such as Engineering Managers, Engineering Stores personnel, and Production Supervisors.

What do you enjoy most about working in recruitment?

What I enjoy most is building strong, lasting relationships – getting to know people, understanding their needs, and supporting them on their journey. I always take the time to hear a client’s struggles and understand the challenges they face. This helps me provide tailored solutions that work.

Can you share a standout moment from your career?

One of the standout moments in my career so far has been receiving a Client Partnership Award, which reflected the trust and collaboration I’ve built with my clients. (And I’m also proud to be the E3R Sports Day Egg and Spoon Race winner!)

How does your background support your approach to recruitment?

My background has taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and adapting to challenges. I’ve learned to embrace learning curves and to always keep moving forward.

What can clients expect when working with you?

Clients can expect someone who brings honesty, integrity, and clear communication to every part of the recruitment process.

What advice do you give to someone looking for a role in your sector?

I always advise candidates to know their market and stay aware of the challenges facing the building products sector. Being prepared and informed makes all the difference.

What trends or challenges are you currently seeing in the market?

Trends in the industry are often shaped by government policies, so staying informed is crucial. I keep up to date through industry news, personal research, and reading relevant articles.

How has your recruitment career evolved over time?

Since starting in recruitment, I’ve progressed to managing my own clients and have continued to develop professionally.

What do you enjoy about working at E3R?

I’ve found somewhere full of knowledge and experience as well as great people. Having an on-site gym is a definite bonus!

How would your colleagues describe you?

Organised, driven, and diligent.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

You’ll find me walking my dog, fixing my Land Rover, or out mountaineering.

Do you have a personal motto that guides your work?

When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your career?

Don’t leave any stone unturned.
