NPD Technologist

Are you a Food Science graduate looking to begin a career in NPD or an existing NPD Technologist seeking a new challenge with a leading, branded food manufacturer?

We’re looking for an NPD Technologist to join a successful innovation team responsible for developing and launching a range of branded products. You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience of the full development process, working on NPD projects from concept through to launch.

Based at a well invested food manufacturing site, this NPD Technologist role is commutable from Preston, Blackburn, Greater Manchester, and surrounding areas.

Please note, this is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior NPD Technologist, you’ll be part of a team delivering innovation and product improvement projects. Some of the things you’ll be doing will include:

• Working collaboratively with commercial, marketing, operations, and technical teams to take products from initial brief through to factory trials and production.
• Ensuring products are launched on time, within budget, and in line with business and customer expectations.
• Maintaining product specifications, nutritional information, and project documentation.
• Organising taste panels, sensory evaluations, and benchmarking activities to support development decisions.
• Attending food fairs, exhibitions, and undertaking competitor analysis to identify trends and contribute to the innovation pipeline.

About You:

Degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technologist, or a related discipline.

• Previous NPD experience, gained through industry placements, internships, or a commercial food manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of food manufacturing processes and product development principles.
• Able to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with colleagues at all levels.
• Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
