We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a niche global market leader in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery. Based just of the M1 and commutable from Wakefield, Leeds, Sheffield Barnsley the position offers fantastic opportunities for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a niche global automation and build manufacturer.

  • Hours of work – Monday to Friday 34 hours per week with an early finish on a Friday

What do you need to apply to the Mechanical Design Engineer Vacancy

  • Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks design experience – 3D modelling
  • Qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, Degree etc)
  • Practical hands-on approach to testing concepts
  • Must be able to identify and solve problems effectively

Key Duties of Mechanical Design Engineer

  • AUTOCAD Inventor Design of bespoke machinery
  • Design and develop new and existing machinery to meet customer requirements
  • Knowledge of automation and conveyor systems
  • The generation of engineering and assembly drawings using Autodesk inventor
  • The distribution of drawings to the shop floor – machining, welding, assembly etc
  • Working closely with manufacturing teams to identify and overcome any design to manufacturing issues, whilst developing corrective measures .
  • Meeting with suppliers and customers to understand new technologies and new product development opportunities
