Up to £45,000 Hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday / 2:00pm Friday, Holiday: 28 days, Permanent Position. Location Manchester

We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to work on the design and development of bespoke police, emergency service and specialist vehicle conversions.

This is a varied role taking projects from initial concept through detailed design, prototype build and into production.

The company are a leading player in their market and due to company expansion, they are seeking a design engineer to join the team.

Key Responsibilities for the Design Engineer role:

  • Design bespoke vehicle conversion solutions for police and emergency service vehicles.
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Design brackets, mounting systems, equipment installations and vehicle modifications.
  • Support electrical and electronic equipment integration.
  • Produce BOMs, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements and relevant safety standards.
  • Work closely with production, procurement and installation teams.
  • Support prototype builds, testing and product validation.
  • Resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Manage engineering changes and drawing revisions.

We would welcome people to apply that have:

  • Previous experience as a Design Engineer within automotive, vehicle conversion, specialist vehicles or manufacturing.
  • Strong CAD experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA or similar.
  • Experience producing manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Understanding of mechanical design, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical systems would be advantageous.
  • HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent engineering experience.
