Meet Kingsley Walker and Joe Brownbill, Recruitment Consultants in the Food & FMCG Team
E3 Recruitment (E3R) is excited to introduce two Recruitment Consultants from the Food & FMCG team; Kingsley Walker and Joe Brownbill. Our team works with a number of national food & drink and FMCG manufacturers, providing exclusive recruitment services hiring both temporary and permanent positions.
Below we find out more about Kingsley and Joe’s roles, why they enjoy working in recruitment and more about them:
What’s your role and responsibilities?
Kingsley:
As a Recruitment Consultant, I am responsible for attracting candidates within our food and drink division. I get to identify and match potential candidates key skills with the suitable temporary or permanent positions that our clients have available. I have a great mix of being able to find new opportunities for E3R and maintaining strong relationships.
Joe:
I work primarily as a part-time recruiter so my job entails finding specialist engineering candidates to fulfil the roles which Tracie and her team bring on.
What did you do beforehand and where?
Kingsley:
I have a strong sales background predominantly in media advertising. I would present newspaper, outdoor billboards and radio advertising opportunities to businesses and account manage them to help them grow their businesses. My last role was at Global Media who own brands such as Capital FM, Heart and LBC.
Joe:
I am currently studying MLP Law at the University of Huddersfield which I have been doing for the last two and half years. Before that, I was an Authorised Firearms Officer with West Yorkshire Police.
What do you like most about E3R?
Kingsley:
I love the culture here! I’m quickly learning that no day is the same in this busy, positive vibrant atmosphere. There is always something to do and you never feel like you are on your own if you need anything.
A lot of businesses that I have spoken with over the past 18 months have had to strip back in certain parts of business due to Covid, but it seems like E3R is the opposite which just shows the growth.
Joe:
The environment is very much unlike any I have ever worked in. Having worked in recruitment before I was a police officer, this is one which the directors have clearly given a lot of thought to and seems to be very much focused on making sure the staff have not only the best resources available to them but also placing them in an environment which gives them the ability to achieve their potential.
How have your first few months been?
Kingsley:
I feel that there is always room to gain knowledge within recruitment, but using the tools and people around you can really help your induction. I have had the privilege of securing business for a new client, which is great as they had turned to us to secure candidates after unsuccessful attempts with other recruitment agencies to fill their roles. I really am looking forward to what more is to come at E3R.
Joe:
Amazing, a lot of new names to learn as well as getting back into the flow of recruitment. Every day is a school day and a challenge, but that’s what makes it interesting.
What are you most looking forward to?
Kingsley:
I am looking forward to being in a position to change people’s lives by providing the right opportunities. It’s an intrinsic reward that I feel that I haven’t been able to find in a workplace. I’m also looking forward to seeing how my previous experience will adapt to a new environment of recruitment.
Joe:
2022, new custom office and helping to be a part of the continued growth and expansion of E3R.
Can you tell me a fun fact about yourself?
Kingsley:
In 2016 I took up running and 18 months later I ran the Paris Marathon. Straight afterwards I rewarded myself for running 26 miles with £25 worth of McDonald’s and I ate the lot!
Joe:
I am managing to do a full-time degree, work part-time and have a young family all at the same time!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Kingsley:
Outside of work my day normally consists of some of the following; Playing the role of “taxi” for my son’s activities; Basketball (only just); Running (when motivated); And being a clean freak at home.
Joe:
I am very family orientated and like to spend as much time with my kids as possible. Because I am at university means I also have a lot of homework to do.
What attracted you to a career in recruitment?
Kingsley:
I love the idea of helping people and changing lives. In my recent career, I felt that I just seemed to help businesses rather than individuals, which did not feel as rewarding in the long run. Recruitment allows me to still do what I love, whilst being able to make a significant difference.
Joe:
Having worked previously in recruitment before joining the police in 2010, it was almost inevitable that I would go full circle and end up back here since it is such a versatile, interesting, and rewarding career.
What is your main goal at E3R?
Kingsley:
My goal is to be a versatile Recruitment Consultant who can be able to gain knowledge in various sectors across the business. To be able to lead a team is also one of my goals. A small personal goal for me is to demonstrate that skills and experiences can be transferrable into recruitment regardless of what your working experience has previously been.
Joe:
Very cliché, but to make sure that the time I am in work is spent to its maximum potential, helping the team to fulfil the roles they are working hard to obtain.
What would you say to anyone looking to start their career in recruitment?
Kingsley:
If you have drive and passion then you will succeed in recruitment. Be prepared for the objections that will come your way, but this will help your journey in the long run.
Joe:
Recruitment is all about listening. Listening to your clients, but just as importantly, listening to your candidates. Do not be afraid to just hear what they have to say, it will help you to grow and develop those relationships. Do not be afraid, be honest with them and most importantly, just be yourself.
