Meet Austen Hudson and Richard Steadman, Recruitment Consultants in the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Team

E3 Recruitment is excited to have welcomed two Recruitment Consultants to the Chemical & Pharmaceutical team; Austen Hudson and Richard Steadman. The team has multiple contracts with multinational chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers, providing exclusive recruitment services hiring both temporary and permanent positions. Both Austen and Richard will provide recruitment support for these accounts, with Richard also focusing on developing relationships with new Chemical & Pharmaceutical clients across the UK and internationally.

Below we find out more about their new roles, why they want to work within recruitment and more about them:

As Recruitment Consultant what’s your role and responsibilities?

Austen: I am responsible for resourcing candidates with whom I gain an understanding of their professional background and their desired job role. I’ll then describe the available vacancy with them and discuss whether this would be suitable for them. Once we have established an understanding of the job role and whether the candidate would be suitable, this information is passed onto our client and if they agree the candidate is suitable, then begins the process of placing them.

Richard: To summarise, my main responsibility is to attract and match candidates with our clients and our clients’ roles.

What did you do beforehand and where?

Austen: Before I started at E3R I worked for Webhelp as a Retentions Agent for their client Vodafone where I was responsible for retaining customers who were contracted to Vodafone when they had decided they would like to terminate their contract and move to another provider.

Richard: Before I came to E3R I worked in business development as an Opportunity Manager at ASH Projects, a professional services company from Huddersfield.

What attracted you to a career in recruitment?

Austen: I have friends working within recruitment that seemed to enjoy developing their careers and this made me interested.

Richard: A few of my friends had moved into careers in recruitment or had previously worked in recruitment and all spoke very highly of it. When the opportunity presented itself, I thought it would be a good opportunity to gain new experiences in a new industry, whilst also providing myself with a new challenge.

What do you like most about E3R?

Austen: The environment around the office is very welcoming and there is a general feeling that everybody is willing to push themselves to achieve their goals. I appreciate this, as not only has it been easy for me to join the team, but the attitude towards meeting goals and objectives has helped me hit the ground running.

Richard: Firstly, the people, also it is a very fast paced environment with no shortage of things to be getting on with.

How has your first month been?

Austen: I have enjoyed my first month far more than I thought I would in a new working environment and have felt very welcome.

Richard: There has been a lot to learn as this is my first experience of recruitment, but it has been great to jump straight into a new position and learn on the job.

What are you most looking forward to?

Austen: I am most looking forward to learning more aspects of recruitment and developing my skills further. I am eager to begin learning about account management when the time is right.

Richard: Building new business within Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals and getting to know everyone here better.

What is your main goal at E3R?

Austen: I would like to develop my own clients and accounts.

Richard: My goal is to grow the Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals team alongside the rest of the company and hopefully leave a lasting impact on E3R.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Austen: Outside of work I enjoy boxing and I train most nights.

Richard: I enjoy watching all sports and play a good amount of golf. I also enjoy going for food and drinks, plus live music events.

Can you tell me a fun fact about yourself?

Austen: I am an amateur boxer who aspires to go professional.

Richard: I used to be in a band called The Jin where I played the guitar, as well as a bit of singing.

What would you say to anyone looking to start their career in recruitment?

Austen: I’d advise them to as it’s an interesting field of work that’s enjoyable.

Richard: Be prepared to jump straight in and get going from the off.
