We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Manager/Technical Director to join a leading manufacturer of Industrial Resin Floor finishes based in the West Yorkshire region. With double digit growth over recent years this successful business are now looking for an experienced Technical Director to join their senior team.
The successful Technical Director will be responsible for leading the Technical Department whilst also providing support to all other departments. The Technical Director will also manage the companies Quality Management System and Quality Control activities. Ensure products meet regulatory requirements and are optimised for performance and cost. The Technical Director will also provide full support for companies customers in timely manner. Be Proactive in Product development on existing and proposed resin flooring products.

Technical Director Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide Technical leadership for team and wider company.
  • Manage the companies formulation portfolio ensuring it remains complaint to all applicable regulations and legislation.
  • Manage the companies raw material portfolio to ensure that there are viable alternatives available and that purchasing have commercial leverage.
  • Drive innovation through new product development and having a thorough understanding of customer needs and market trends.
  • Develop and maintain the companies ISO 9001 approved Quality Management System and ensure both internal and external audits are completed successfully.
  • Drive forward the ISO 14001 process – Already started.
  • Provide a structured training and development program for the Technical team.
  • Provide an culture such that the laboratory and the equipment therein is maintained in a clean, tidy and fully operational manner and all Health and Safety precautions are observed in line with company/departmental policy.
  • Drive the training of laboratory staff, provide guidance and training to other departments and develop a greater understanding of manufactured product attributes across the organisation.
  • Manage the Quality Control department to provide full support to production and monitor Nonconformances, trend analysis and driving corrective actions.
  • Provide technical service to the company’s customer base, both on and off site with focus on prompt and effective resolutions
  • Technical Director Internal and External Relationships.

  • Provide technical support to sales and Technical service when problems arise on the correct use of products. Analyse and test samples returned under complaint
  • Liaise with production department regarding advice on methods of manufacture, planning and supervision of trial batches and problem solving, minimising disruption to the production department and facilitating the smooth implementation of new/alternative raw materials and changes to existing formulations.
  • Contact with purchasing and supplier representatives to obtain raw materials for laboratory and production trials. All commercial aspects dealt with by purchasing.
  • Liaise with suppliers of raw materials and equipment to discuss project requirements and joint areas of work to be undertaken.
  • Represent the business at the FeRFA technical committee meetings.
  • Provide technical input to the business with regard to existing and new product development.
  • Provide an insight into competitor activities from on-site experience and general browsing
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

    • Proven Technical management experience in a relevant Resin related discipline Good interpersonal skills
    • Highly organised and self-motivated
    • Capable of working independently using own initiative or as part of a team.
    • Good project and time management skills.
    • Good working knowledge of Windows Excel and associated software packages.
