Software Developer

Delphi/Microsoft SQL Server

The Role

I am looking for a Software Developer to enhance and support existing systems and to provide development for the next generation of operational software and applications. You will be working on the company’s bespoke ERP system that covers all aspects of the company’s operations across its two production sites in Huddersfield and Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team shaping the systems for the next stage in the company’s growth.

The Company

The company is a specialist engineering company, a technology-led manufacturing group, engaged in the design and manufacture of precision instrumentation assemblies and components from a diverse range of global markets, including Space and Life Science.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and delivering added functionality to existing bespoke systems.
  • Development of new projects to support business requirements that are well-paced, interesting and technically challenging.
  • Managing software projects from initial conception through to completion.
  • Developing high quality, maintainable and scalable code.
  • Providing support for the installation and maintenance of systems and hardware.
  • Ensuring all aspects of cyber-security are considered and addressed at all times.

Desirable Technical Skills Sets and Qualifications

  • Strong commercial programming experience, with proficient knowledge of relational databases.
  • Good degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or similar preferred (or equivalent commercial experience).
  • The primary development environment is Delphi and Microsoft SQL Server; experience in these areas would be preferable.

Desirable Personal Skills Sets

  • Ability to work effectively by yourself and as part of a small, responsive team of developers.
  • Analytical and logical approach to problem solving.
  • A diligent and positive approach to work, with a mindset of continual improvement.
  • Project management skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Hours of work

38 hours per week. Hours of work will be flexible and dictated by the needs of the business. It is expected that the successful applicant will work those hours necessary to meet the duties of the role.

Salary

Salary £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus competitive benefits package.
