Shift Engineering Manager

One of prestigious partners in the West Yorkshire Region are on the search for a diverse individual who has current/previous Management experience in one of the following sectors; Food, Drink, FMCG or Packaging Industry.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, this management is accountable for ensuring productivity within the area of responsibility by providing quality engineering support to the Site Manager and other Engineers on site.
• Leading, controlling and taking full accountability for the engineering shift in their duties and their adherence to Company procedures at all times and taking appropriate action where necessary.
• Maintaining Safe Systems of Work and Environment, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
• Reporting all near misses and accidents according to Company procedure.
• Implementing the Planned Preventative Maintenance Plan and ensuring all works are carried out to the highest maintenance standards and quality.
• Working closely with the Site Engineering Manager to prioritise breakdowns, reactive maintenance and any Planned Preventative Maintenance Scheduling.
• Ensuring excellent engineering practices at all times including a ‘clean as you go’ principle.
• Managing the team to ensure they have the relevant skills and knowledge to allow them to carry out their duties effectively, carrying out training where appropriate.
• Providing regular feedback to the Site Manager on operational and maintenance issues.
• Showing financial control when assessing, repairing processes and ordering spares.
• Liaising with contractors and controlling their work on the site, ensuring all work is completed to the Company’s requirements and all relevant Permits to Work are completed.
• In the absence of the Site Engineering Manager, and on your allocated weekends, cover the role of Duty Engineer, dealing with various site problems and decision making.
• Arranging cover for holidays and absence to ensure smooth an unhindered manning on the shift in line with company holiday and overtime policy.

To Be Successful:

• A qualification in NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds, Full Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• As a Manager you will be require to have excellent health and safety awareness
• Experience with electrical drawings, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• An ability to work using their own initiative
• An ability to analyse complex information, solve problems and make decisions
• Excellent organisational, communication skills and a high level of personal motivation
• Food industry experience within a high-speed production environment.
