The company is one of the world’s leading chemical manufacturers, working for a company employing leading professionals within the sector, this permanent position as Senior Process Engineer has arisen and gives the chance to work for an organisation that has achieved and is forecasted to continue delivering ambitious growth over the next few years. The Senior Process Engineer role will be based at the site in Seal Sands.

The Senior Process Engineer will contribute towards definition and improvement of manufacturing processes and plant for new and existing products and to ensure the capital project programme is adequately supported to meet the site and business targets. They will lead campaign changeovers and liaise with the project and construction teams to ensure an efficient and timely changeover window. Producing scopes of work to allow a multi-discipline team to execute their individual elements of the project.

Responsibilities of the Senior Process Engineer:

  • Initiate and lead the development of proposals for new, improved or extended plant, for new and existing production, and define the scope and programmes for capital projects in collaboration with operational functions in support of the techno-commercial strategy of the business.
  • Prepare relevant documents (e.g. project P&IDs, commissioning procedures, equipment data sheets, test sheets etc.) for the Project Handover package.
  • Lead the initial conceptual phase of capital projects in the development of strategies for expanding and providing capacity to meet the needs of the business. Review designs to ensure an optimum balance between technical suitability, operability and cost-efficiency.
  • Participate in major capital project teams and control the input to capital projects to ensure that development, design and data provision meet agreed targets of scope, cost and time set.
  • Plan and control the commissioning of new or modified plants and lead the technical start-up team on large projects, to ensure that design intent is met, scale up parameters are understood and production is established safely and effectively to meet business cost, time, EH&S and quality targets.

The successful Senior Process Engineer must be Chartered qualified and degree educated in a relevant discipline and have experience working in a similar role in the chemicals manufacturing sector. A strong understanding of the requirements of a top tier COMAH site is required and the successful applicant must be highly numerate and literate.
