We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Semi skilled Engineering Operative /Wire Technician to join a leading Engineering organisation based in Gildersome, Leeds.

Our client offers specialist wire products to a global market and due to the increases in workload the business now requires a Wire Technician/Skilled Engineer to join their team. The role will be days based working Monday to Friday from 7.45am to 4.45pm with an earlier Friday finish. It also offers an excellent salary and benefits package including.

Candidate
As an Engineering Production Operative/Technician you will be provided a supportive training and career program with the opportunity to gain further nationally recognised qualifications and accreditations, in addition to previous or current Apprenticeship/Qualifications held.
Previous knowledge of working in an engineering manufacturing environment or a wire drawing industry would be an advantage.
Job Summary
As an Engineering Production Operative/Technician you will be

  • Operating wire rolling machinery.
  • Operating CNC lathe and cylindrical grinder.
  • Inspecting tooling and final products
  • Packaging of the finished product

With the team you will be responsible for the product from raw material stage to the finished product and be capable of working on your own initiative as well as working with a small team of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • To complete a programme of training to be conducted within the Production, Technical & Quality workshops
  • Hands on approach to setting up and running of cold rolling, cutting, and forming machines.
  • Inspection of own work using a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Warehousing duties including forklift driving.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and day to day maintenance of the machines.
  • Always take responsibility for own safety and safety of others.
  • To provide instruction and advice within the Production Department

Person Specification – required

  • BTEC Diploma in Engineering or NVQ in an Engineering discipline.
  • IT literate
  • Flexibility to undertake training, at times and occasionally away from home.
