NPI Group Leader

This permanent position as NPI Group Leader has arisen and gives the chance to work for an organisation that has achieved and is forecasted to continue delivering ambitious growth over the next few years. The NPI Group Leader role will be based at the site in Seal Sands.

The NPI Group Leader will manage a team responsible for process research and development activities on new projects centering on the manufacture of crop protection and pharmaceutical products. Champions the adherence to safety standards and no lost time accidents or major incidents impacting on the site’s operation. Manage assigned teams to ensure new projects are safely and effectively started up and integrated into the organisation within the regulatory and customer quality requirements as well as ISO9001, ISO14001 and where applicable, cGMP.

Responsibilities of the NPI Group Leader:

• Ensure all the required documentation is prepared to support the start up of a new process
• Ensure the technical resources are available to support the start up of a new process.
• Manage day to day activities of the assigned team, ensuring all direct reports are set appropriate but challenging objectives and are given feedback on their performance, ensuring your team have appropriate opportunities for personal and professional development
• Provide expertise in organic and physical organic chemistry for development, troubleshooting and root cause exercises
• Identify requirements for future capital expenditure, methodology and technology
• Manage laboratory equipment and resources to meet project needs.
• Contribute to meeting Departmental budget targets.
• Liaise with other functions such as Operations, Quality, EHS, Analytical and Engineering on chemistry/processing issues.
• Perform technical assessments on new enquiries.
• Liaise with customers as the key technical contact
• Participate and if required, manage technical meetings with customers
• Timely raising / closure of Change Control, Deviation and CAPA reports

The successful NPI Group Leader must be HND educated in a relevant discipline and have experience working in a similar role in the chemicals manufacturing sector. The successful applicant must have more than five years’ experience with above two years in a front-line operational role. Project Management experience would be advantageous.
