As a Mechanical Fitter you will provide maintenance support for all mechanical equipment on site. As part of the on-going investment programme on site in Bradford this is a replacement position, which is why this vacancy has become available. The working pattern is 3 days on 3 days off, working 6.45am-7pm.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter:-

  • Respond to maintenance requests, fault find, diagnose and effect repairs in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure equipment is repaired to acceptable industry operating standards.
  • Ensure that all tools for repair work are fit for purpose and any defects reported.
  • Ensure that all appropriate policies, procedures and related requirements such as Health and Safety legislation is adhered to at all times.
  • Utilise the CMMS database for recording breakdowns.
  • Ensure that all work is effectively communicated to the shift supervisor.
  • Take personal responsibility for compliance to PSM related procedures and established work methods.
  • Report all process safety incidents or hazards and contribute to incident investigations as required.

To be successful in this position as a Mechanical Fitter, several years’ experience will be required working within large site operations. Holding a City & Guilds in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent qualification, including a timed served apprenticeship would be desirable. Experience and knowledge of working on a Chemical manufacturing site would also be beneficial as would the Petro-chemical, oil & gas sectors, or indeed multi-industry sector experience.
