Lead Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – FMCG Packaging Industry

Immediate opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a progressive FMCG Packaging Business. This role will definitely will allow you be integral and showcase your past experience in developing and managing continuous improvements and lean manufacturing across the plant. The role is hands on as you will be the Senior lead managing a team of 2-3 engineers.

The family run organisation prides itself with offering customers value for money and continues to invest in the manufacturing plants to create further efficiency, heightened quality control, and wider product ranges. They are looking for a unique individual, who enjoys working as a part of a team and can offer a wide range of mechanical skills and experience to their Maintenance Department.

Key focus and responsibilities include:

  • Day to Day reactive and planned maintenance of packing equipment such as packaging equipment (boxers, flow wrappers, fillers, shrink wrappers etc).
  • Managing and leading a small team of Engineers in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Driving a culture across the business of lean initiatives, projects and improving bottom line revenue looking a waste, machine and equipment efficiencies
  • Evaluating and introducing Best practices making the business First in Class in productivity and output.
  • When needed you may be involved with reacting to breakdowns on site and implementing proactive/reactive maintenance of the machinery.
  • Training, Mentoring and Development your team are key attributes the company is look for within the individual for this position.

This role is operating on a Day basis Monday to Friday 8:00am till 4:00pm with an expectation to cover weekends on a rota basis

Experience Needed from you:

You will need to hold one of the following qualifications to be considered: City and Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or BTEC(Apprenticeship) in either Mechanical Engineering

Industry experience within one of the following areas is essential: Packaging, FMCG or Food manufacturing environment.

Worked on packaging Machinery such as boxers, flow wrappers, fillers, shrink wrappers etc is essential

Proven experience at a strategic level in developing Continuous and Lean Initiatives is key
