This is a position that can offer an Engineering Technician the opportunity to join a leading independent power generation specialist. Over the last 25 years they have developed and operated landfill gas-to energy projects worldwide, having a proven track record of delivering projects in many countries around the world. They are committed to finding new and innovative solutions to manage gases efficiently in order to generate energy, reduce carbon emissions and meet relevant environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities for the Engineering Technician:

  • Day to day operations and maintenance including but not limited to: fault diagnosis, location and rectification.
  • Planned maintenance and breakdown response on the generator sets with minimum outages.
  • Ensuring a stock of basic parts as detailed by the Area Supervisor is replenished and always to hand should there be a breakdown.
  • Provide 24-hour emergency call out cover to respond to generator set failures when necessary.
  • Maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical plant, including pumps and motors at all facilities.
  • Repair and maintenance of generators.
  • Training, support and supervision of Operations Technicians to undertake minor maintenance and simple fault finding.
  • Deal directly with spillages using pollution prevention equipment.
  • Compilation and completion of outstanding works raised by site audits.
  • Conduct air emissions monitoring.
  • Managing your time and travel effectively, staying away from home where appropriate.

To be successful you will have experience/qualifications in the following areas:

  • Gas field knowledge or experience of generators, diesel engines is essential.
  • Recognised industry qualification i.e. ONC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in either Electrical or Mechanical basis.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Electrical and Mechanical maintenance.
  • Recognised level in an Electrical skill or relevant experience in the field.
  • Experience with electric control systems 12v DC – 415v AC 30
  • Fault location, diagnosis and rectification.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Hold a full UK drivers licence for a manual van.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to a varying workload.

As an Engineering Technician you will work autonomously, problem solving, you will be covering a regional area and ideally situated within 20 miles of Rufforth – York.
In return you will receive a 6 month fixed term contract initially. If there is any change in the current staffing levels then you will be considered for a permanent role. All staff will be in receipt of PPE, Van, Tools, Mobile Phone, Fuel Card and lap top as standard. If made permanent you will receive a company pension scheme with standard life cover.
