This Economics Planning & Scheduling Analyst position is an excellent opportunity to join one of the market leading Petrochemical manufacturing companies in the UK. They are offering the successful candidate an opportunity to join a top-tier COMAH site employing over 1,000 people, becoming a pivotal part of the team. The successful Supply Analyst will be working on behalf of a leading UK-focussed downstream energy manufacturer, operating on one of the most advanced sites of its kind both throughout the UK and Europe

The Role of Economics Planning & Scheduling Analyst
The successful candidate will manage the complete end-to-end economic analysis of business performance, against the monthly and annual plan of the refinery. Analytical reporting within this role covers aspects such as the economic appraisal of the Company’s performance, tracking market moves and impacts, demand changes, deviations in crude processing, unit performance and identifying potential causes of any deviations from the plan which can then be actioned. This is a multifaceted and data driven role.

Key responsibilities of Economics Planning & Scheduling Analyst

  • Track the throughput and yield performance of the Stanlow Refinery Process Units and record all deviations from the monthly plan and the reasons behind such deviations
  • Lead the Linear Programme – model based analysis to “back-cast” past performance of Production and Sales to analyse the financial-economic impact on hydrocarbon margins
  • Monitor the movement of market prices (on a monthly basis) to capture the impact of the market on hydrocarbon margins
  • Analyse the financial-economic impact of trading and domestic marketing performance on hydrocarbon margins
  • Analyse the weekly and monthly performance of blended finished products (quality giveaway and cost of blends)
  • Document the complete margin-variance analysis in monthly performance report

To be successful in this position as Economics Planning & Scheduling Analyst you will ideally:

  • Have a background working as an Analyst or working in a business supply chain and/or a performance management role would be highly valued, on a COMAH / Petrochemical site. Additionally, possessing a degree in Business, Finance or a technical discipline.
  • Be familiar with financial models, excellent Exel skills, understanding of P&L and have basic accounting skills.
  • Be required to handle multitude of competing priorities, tight timeline and make decisions amidst ambiguity and understand key elements of excel modelling, basic accounting and understanding of P&L.
  • Possess some knowledge or experience in the oil market and industry, know-how and experiences in supporting trading, commercial or contract negotiations will be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, be inquisitive and be good with numbers. The successful candidate will be results driven and have excellent communication skills, as the role requires accurate communication with the Planning and Economics team as well as the wider business – including Operations, Marketing and Trading
