EC&I Engineer

An engineering consultancy company based in West Yorkshire are looking for an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Engineer (EC&I Engineer) to support them with projects within the chemical, food, pharmaceutical and health care industries.
Main duties of the EC&I Engineer

• To carry out EC&I engineering design in support of company projects covering
• ATEX / DSEAR / SIL
• IEC61508 / IEC61511
• BS EN60079
• COMPEX / Inspection Schedules
• Low Voltage switchgear, Motor Control Centres
• HV Switchgear knowledge
• PLC and Instrumentation circuits
• Control Panel Design & development
• Functional Design Specifications (FDS) / User Requirement Specifications (URS)
• EC&I Equipment specifications for both safe/hazardous area applications
• Strong Project management skills required, managing team, Gantt charts, ability to schedule, coordinate activities, time & resource Management.
• To consult with the company’s clients to correctly interpret their ECI requirements and make proposals which fit these desires.
• To work with other engineers in the company to develop proposal specifications and cost

Skill sets of the EC&I Engineer

• A minimum of ONC, HND or HNC but a degree in electrical controls EC&I engineering or related subject is preferred.
• Be working towards membership of a recognised controlling body in the discipline.
• Have a working knowledge of the the EC&I aspects of the process industry and the EC&I engineering support functions necessary in that industry. This is likely to have been obtained through work in a manufacturing engineering office or through EC&I engineering contractors.
• Be able to communicate with clarity in both spoken and written environments.
• Work without supervision but ensure the agreement and co-operation of colleagues.
• Be able to be self critical and review decisions, calculations and documentation for relevance and accuracy.
• Be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet calculations and data base manipulation.
• Be able to prepare EC&I Design Diagrams and manipulate simple CAD draughting systems associated with these.
