We are currently looking for a Buyer/Negotiator to work with a well-established market-leading manufacturing business in the Midlands area. The Buyer position offers fantastic company benefits, pension and training from a company that values its employees. This position will at times entail occasional travel to supplier’s sites and internal business locations within the North of England.

The company is a market leader, and international manufacturer, with an impressive background of investing in and developing employees at all levels of their business, providing extensive training and career progression opportunities.

  • Salary up to £50k- Excellent Pension + Company Bonus
  • 23 days leave + National Holidays, rising to 25 after 2 yrs.
  • Hours of work – 37.5hrs Monday to Friday – 8:30am – 5pm
  • Looking after approx. 3 sites across the North of the country and will also work on National contracts.

  • Initially 1 year Maternity Leave cover (1 year FTC) – excellent prospects with other positions in the Procurement team during this period.

Key responsibilities will lie in the following areas:

  • Deliver measurable cost savings (price, value, innovation, quality or exclusivity) through negotiations
  • Influence the long-term profitability of the business by positioning them as the number one Customer for suppliers to deal with in our Industry.
  • Create SAP Outline Agreements (Price Lists) to reflect the pricing and terms agreements from the above.
  • Ensure that Legal Contracts are in place with suppliers with an annual turnover is greater than £100k
  • Receiving Purchase Requisitions from the End Users and Placing Spot Purchase Orders from local suppliers and key national suppliers ensuring all purchase orders are created and approved in line with Company and regulatory Policies
  • Identify the need and provide all details for the creation of new services.
  • Work with the site managers and suppliers to ensure services and goods are receipted in a timely manner and final payments are made within the agreed rates.
  • Support Back Office Functions with initiatives to reduce transactional activities
  • We welcome applications from individuals who have experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement.

Experience and Qualifications Required for the Buyer:

  • Operational experience to fully understand what our business objectives are within our markets and how they are achieved and operate
  • Ability to analyse data and use it to devise strategy & accurately report progress
  • IT skills, MS package & SAP
  • Negotiation & influencing skills
  • CIPS training would be advantageous
