Joining the team as Analytical Chemist, Medical Products means working with a market leader in the manufacture of chemical products, supporting site and global operations through executing multiple chemical and physical testing on a variety of raw materials, components and finished products. Responsibilities of the successful Analytical Chemist, Medical Products:

  • Analytical Chemists are responsible for the equipment and methodology used to assess product quality of medicinal products. The instrumentation must be available at all times and calibrated/validated to the highest standards, failure to do so could have serious implications for the business.
  • Assist in developing, designing, improving, installing and validating new equipment and technology for the medical quality control team on site and to support a third-party location, as required. In particular the role will support instrument calibration, validation support for a LIMS / barcoding project and improvement projects.
  • Manage complex safety challenges of analysis including application of risk assessment and risk mitigation methods for high hazard chemistry.
  • Work closely with technical and laboratory teams to understand production processes and requirements to support troubleshooting or improvement activities.

Based at the company’s site at Runcorn (WA7 4JE), ideally applicants for the Analytical Chemist, Medical Products position will have experience of instrumental method development, preferably working to current cGMP standards. Additionally, it would be preferable for candidates to have knowledge/experience in gas chromatography and CDS systems, notably calibration of equipment. Candidates that have an HNC/HND or above Scientific qualification would also be at an advantage (Biochemistry, Physics, Biology etc.) however this is not essential.
